Background: Tomoregulin-1 precursor is a single-pass type I membrane protein thought to be a tumor suppressor in brain cancers. Its expression is down-regulated in these tumors as compared to control brain tissues. In addition, it might also inhibit NODAL and BMP signaling during neural patterning. There are 2 isoforms produced by alternative splicing.
